Had the regular AM8. The PROT adds the RGB boom arm and FIFINE software for EQ tweaking. Worth the 40 dollar upgrade in my opinion — the lighting matches my desk RGB and software gives me studio-grade audio shaping. Daily streamer setup complete.

RGB boom arm is the visual upgrade. FIFINE software lets me tune the audio profile for my voice. EQ presets work great out of the box. Compare to Elgato Wave XLR — this is half the price with similar quality.

Worth every extra dollar

If you are casual streaming, regular AM8 is plenty. If you are serious about audio quality and visual aesthetic for your stream, the PROT is worth it. Software EQ saved me from buying an audio interface separately.
